Trevoh Chalobah Reveals Chelsea Players Are “Trying” But Has No Explanation For Goal Drought
Chelsea are in total freefall, and it’s hard to know who to turn to for comfort at times like this.
The club have wheeled out homegrown centre back Trevoh Chalobah for comment on the official website today, who is as good a choice as any. He’s not responsible for our struggles up front, and he’s a popular player with the fans, who see a local kid done good now stuck in a nightmare situation.
His quotes explain that the whole thing is especially tough as a Chelsea fans and academy player. But even he can’t really identify what has gone so wrong or why.
“It’s a very tough one. For me, being here since I was young as well, it’s difficult to see the club I’ve supported all my life is in a difficult situation now.
“But we’ve got to stick together. It’s obviously a difficult moment for us, for the team, and we’ve just got to look forward to the next game and try and give our best.
“Everyone’s feeling it right now. As I said, all we can do is keep going every day, working hard in training, turning up and trying to do our best.
“I just think the boys are really trying. We’re working really hard in training, we’re giving our all every day. The application’s there, we know what it means to play for the club, but it’s just a difficult moment for us in front of goal at the minute. I don’t know, I can’t really give an explanation for that.”
The problem is that there is no easy solution. The problems are myriad and interconnected, and sometimes circular.
We’re not scoring goals because we’re low on confidence, and we’re not confident because we’re not scoring goals. Other teams smell the blood in the water, and they are relentless when they do.
