WATCH: Tragic Moments As George Maluleka Receives Immediate Attention After On Field Collapse
AmaZulu midfielder George Maluleka collapsed during a DStv Premiership match between Usuthu and Swallows FC.
Maluleka had been starring in the midfield for AmaZulu during the game against Swallows, but could not finish the game due to the collapse.
Swallows eventually came out victorious in this fixture away to the Moses Mabhida Stadium, getting the solitary goal through Kagiso Malinga in the 27th minute, but all that was eventually marred by the shocking scenes of Maluleka being taken away by the ambulance after collapsing on the field.
What should have been celebratory scenes from the visitors in Swallows, claiming a huge three points away from home, was replaced by a rather sombre and very concerned atmosphere around the stadium. According to the Swallows FC twitter account, an ambulance rushed on to the field to have Maluleka transported immediately to the hospital for further assessments and treatment.
CONFIRMATION OF THE MALULEKA COLLAPSE
“George Maluleka down receiving some serious medical attention. All the doctors around him. Looks really serious”. Wrote the Swallows official twitter account.
Interestingly enough the AmaZulu twitter account seemed to skip the incident altogether, choosing to focus on matters both before and after the incident pertaining to their player Maluleka.
IDiskiTimes writer Robin-Duke Madlala who was present at the game also tweeted an update saying. “Shocking scenes as George Maluleka collapsed on the pitch yet again. He’s now taken away with ambulance. Both medical staffs from each clubs reacted hastily after he collapsed on the pitch to assess him”. He wrote on Twitter.
At the time of publishing this, there has been no further update on the matter but if the latest is anything to go by, then there seems to be every right to be concerned about the condition of Maluleka. Just last week neighbours Richards Bay FC lost their captain Siphamandla Mtolo after he also collapsed but during a training session.
AmaZulu and the whole football fraternity will be hoping for a different outcome for Maluleka. Here’s to wishing him a speedy recovery.
