Wayne Rooney has been branded a fool for quitting on Derby County after the side was relegated to League One
Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has called Wayne Rooney a fool for resigning from his role as Derby County head coach.
The club recently announced that Rooney had asked to be relieved of his duties as head coach. Derby County were relegated to League One after a tumultuous season.
The club was docked 21 points at the start of last season for administrative issues and breaching Championship rules. But Rooney masterminded a steady performance that saw them finish just 7 points from safety.
Someone asked me earlier on if that means he’s a shoo-in for a Premier League job. They’ve bumped their head. He’s nowhere near that. I’d be surprised if Wayne got another Championship job any time soon.
I think he’s a bloody fool. You’ve got a club that’s dropped into League One with 28,000 fans that are going to be galvanised up the ying-yang. You’ve got an owner that’s coming in there – he’s bought the stadium too, so he’s not mucking about. I think he is a fool.
