Why Mason Mount Was Left Out Of Chelsea’s Squad On Leicester City Trip
Chelsea beat Leicester City 3-1 on Saturday afternoon to ease the pressure on Graham Potter even more.
It marked their third win in a row and something of a turning point after a rough run of poor form and performances before that.
Potter looks like he is finally starting to trust a regular set of players and know what they give him now as he builds his team. Things were always going to take some time, but it was clear that big improvements were needed, and now we have seen just that.
There was a few players missing from the squad still, one of which was Mason Mount. There was some claims that Mount was left out of the squad on Saturday despite being fully fit.
Jacobs said: “Mason Mount remains a crucial player for Chelsea with the hope he can rediscover his form and goals from last season. There was a lot of speculation as to why he was left out against Leicester and my understanding is there was really nothing sinister or contract-related about it.
“Firstly, there is a difference between a fit player and a match-sharp one. Mount is recovering from an abdominal injury and Potter had said in the build up he “probably needs a little more time”. I am not sure why fans were so surprised by his Leicester omission as a result.
“With such a big squad, Potter has no need to rush players back, nor would his medical staff allow it.”
