Xavi Has Already Discussed Messi’s Possible Return With Barcelona Heavyweights

Spanish publication SPORTS says that ever since Xavi’s first contact with Lionel Messi, he began to probe the possibility of a comeback.
This was made known not only to Lionel Messi but also to the club president Joan Laporta, who assured the coach at the end of 2021 that the team will, in fact, find a solution to bring the Argentina captain back to Catalonia.
And now that Messi’s ongoing contract with Paris-Saint Germain is about to expire at the end of the season, Barcelona believe it is the right time to enter into a negotiation.
SPORT even mentions that Xavi has already held several meetings with the dressing room heavyweights of FC Barcelona in order to share his ideas with Messi in it. Indeed, the coach has spoken with many team members and everyone is of the same idea that having Messi back would be excellent news for the project.
It had been previously reported that Marc-Andre ter Stegen has a complicated relationship with Messi. But the manager has talked about the Argentine’s return to the club and has received the German goalkeeper’s blessings over a move.
Ousmane Dembele is another player who Xavi spoke with about the possibility of Messi coming back and explained to him how the former captain’s return and deployment at the tip of a midfield diamond could benefit the Frenchman.
Furthermore, Xavi believes that Robert Lewandowski is someone who would benefit the most from Messi’s arrival, and after having chatted with the coach, the Poland international also gave his thumbs up.
Meanwhile, Messi’s return would affect a lot of things at Barcelona from a contractual standpoint. It should be remembered that a certain Sergio Busquets ends his contract at the end of the season and if Messi ends up returning, the veteran midfielder will want to continue for another season.
