Xavi Simons Leaves PSV Camp To Complete Paris Saint-Germain Deal
- Xavi Simons leaves PSV training camp to complete PSG move.
Xavi Simons has officially left PSV’s training camp in Austria to complete a return to his former club Paris Saint-Germain, the Dutch club have confirmed. After allowing the Dutch international to leave Paris on a free last summer, Les Parisiens agreed a clause in Simons’ PSV contract where they could buy him back for €6m. PSG informed the KNVB cup winners that they would be activating the buy-back clause earlier in the summer.
The buy-back clause in the La Masia graduate’s contract had an expiration date of the 31st of July, meaning he had until the end of July to communicate his desire to return to the club to PSG. This communication has now been received and Simons will be travelling to the French capital, in order to complete his return to the Parc des Princes.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Dutch forward’s role at PSG next season is dependent on the futures of Neymar and Mbappé. If one of Kylian Mbappé or Neymar leaves the Parc des Princes, Simons will be involved in Luis Enrique’s first team. However, if both of the forwards remain in Paris, Simons is expected to join another club on loan so that he can continue to build upon his impressive development over the last 12 months.
