Alex Faedo Surgery
In the 2020 season, Faedo was a part of the Tiger’s 40-man roster. However, on December 19, 2020; he had to undergo Tommy John surgery on his throwing elbow.
Tommy John surgery is a surgery where the ulnar collateral ligament in the medial elbow is replaced with tendons from their owner’s body or from a donor (deceased).
This can be a huge game-changer for a baseball player. Faedo, having gone through surgery, missed one season in 2021 and made his comeback in 2022.
After posting a 2.53 ERA in three appearances for the Tigers, he was sent to the Toledo Mud Hens to find his form.
Moreover, after another disappointing spell at Toledo, starting just one game. He was called back to the Tigers on May 4, 2022.
Faedo started and pitched five innings in a match against the Pittsburgh Pirates, but the team was not yet impressed.
Following another dismal appearance on his second start, he was returned to Toledo.
Later, after Michael Pineda was injured, he was back with the Tigers on May 16, 2020. Sadly, Faedo has been optioned to Triple-A Toledo to begin the 2023 season of the MLB.
