Victor Osimhen has been heavily linked with a move to Premier League club Arsenal as business begins in the summer transfer window.
Following rumours that Arsenal are making efforts to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from the Italian side Napoli, football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano claims the Gunners are interested in Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.
Mikel Arteta has been in search of a new striker to replace former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette ahead of next season, and Osimhen and Jesus have been linked as possible replacements.
Just Arsenal reports that Romano stated that the Premier League club are yet to show any interest in Osimhen and are considering a move for Gabriel Jesus.
Fabrizio said in an exclusive interview with CaughtOffside…
“As of today, I am not aware of an advanced negotiation for Victor Osimhen to Arsenal. Napoli have no intention to negotiate for less than €100million for the Nigerian striker and so far there is no proposal on the table, sources close to the club guarantee.
“For now, the Gunners are waiting for answers from Gabriel Jesus after positive talks with his agent. The Brazilian is the priority target for Mikel Arteta, but also interests other clubs”.
“We can expect a final decision to come soon, and Manchester City are asking for a €50-60m fee for Gabriel.”
Sissoko tells Juventus to sign Osimhen
Meanwhile, former Juventus defensive midfielder Mohamed Sissoko has urged those in charge of the Old Lady to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen who was impressive in the just-concluded term.
Following the exit of Paulo Dybala, Juventus chiefs are expected to enter the transfer market with the target of them getting a replacement this summer.
There have also been reports that former Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata could also leave Juventus this summer with Arsenal reported to be interested in his signature.
Lille under investigation over Osimhen’s transfer deal
Former French Champions, Lille have had their headquarters raided by police as the Ligue 1 club is being investigated over corruption in a transfer deal involving Victor Osimhen.
The Super Eagles striker moved to Napoli from the Ligue 1 club in 2020 in a deal reported to cost €75 million and the 23-year-old has gone on to establish himself as one of Serie A’s best players.
Napoli and Lille have been under the searchlight as regards the transfer as the Serie A club included four players in the deal.
