Arsenal And Ajax Expected To Reach Transfer Agreement For Jurrien Timber

Arsenal and Ajax are expected to agree a fee for the transfer of Jurrien Timber, with the player already broadly agreeing personal terms.

Mike Verweij reports for De Telegraaf that Arsenal and Ajax are expected to agree a fee for Jurrien Timber, despite Arsenal’s initial bid for the defender being turned down.

Arsenal have offered Timber a four or five-year deal, and the player and his agent have broadly agreed on the content of both offers. As soon as there’s an agreement between Arsenal and Ajax, the rest of the move should go through smoothly.

Timber and his agent already held talks with Arsenal in London earlier this year, around the same time the player attended the FA Cup final between Manchester United and Manchester City.

The player has reportedly told his club he wants to join Arsenal, even with rival interest from Bayern Munich.

Even if Bayern bid, it seems Timber’s priority is the move to north London.

Writing for The Athletic, David Ornstein confirms that talks are progressing positively following Arsenal’s failed opening offer, and there’s optimism on all sides that an agreement will be reached.

As for some suggestions on social media that Timber was spotted travelling to London following the international break, Ornstein describes these claims as “unconfirmed”.

With Timber currently on holiday, he’d be free to travel to London if that’s what he wants to do.

On Monday night, David Ornstein broke the news that Arsenal had made a £30m offer for Ajax defender Jurrien Timber.

Ornstein added that Ajax are looking for £50m to sell the versatile centre-back, who has two years left on his contract and can also play at right-back or in midfield.

The Evening Standard wrote that a fresh bid is expected from Arsenal, after their £30m opening offer fell short.

Timber made 47 appearances for Ajax in the 2022/23 campaign, and the 22-year-old is also a Dutch international, playing 15 times for the national team.
