Barcelona Prodigy Reaffirms Desire To Stay Amid Premier League Links: “Club Of My Dreams”

Over the past few months, there have been some concerns when it comes to the future of Barcelona midfield prodigy Gavi.

The 18-year-old signed a new contract with the club in September last year, but it has not been registered with La Liga. While Barça tried to get it done in the winter window, the first-team registration was overturned by the court in March.

It has meant that Gavi is back on his youth team contract at the moment and has a clause in his deal which will allow him to leave the club for free on July 1, if his new deal is not registered.

This situation has piqued the interest of several top clubs across Europe, including the likes of Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and Manchester City while Chelsea are also said to be interested.

Amidst this, it has been claimed that Barcelona are relaxed about Gavi’s situation as they are aware that he wants to stay put at the club and is not thinking of an exit.

Now, Gavi has gone ahead and confirmed the same. Speaking after Barcelona’s La Liga triumph was confirmed following the win against Espanyol on Sunday, the midfielder said that he was at the club of his dreams and wanted to win more titles and trophies.

“This is the first title here, this is the club of my dreams — it’s Barça. I hope there will be many more,” he said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

Barcelona are working on resolving their Financial Fair Play situation and have made it their priority to address the contract registration issues of the likes of Gavi, Ronald Araujo, Sergi Roberto, Inaki Pena, and Marcos Alonso before moving on to new signings.

A key member of Xavi’s plans at Barça, Gavi has a bright future and the club will hope to register his new contract and hand him the No. 6 kit before July 1.
