Barcelona Raise A Record Of €8.2m In Ticketing Revenue From El Clasico
Barcelona’s clash against Real Madrid in La Liga was a huge success for the club both on and off the field.
The 2-1 victory, despite going behind early in the game, meant that the Catalans have now opened up a near-unassailable 12-point lead at the top of the standings and have one hand on the La Liga trophy already.
With 12 matches left to play, the title is now the Blaugrana’s to lose.
Off the pitch, the match proved to be quite a success for Barça as well, starting with the quickfire sales of the special edition ‘Rosalía’ shirts in the buildup to the game.
Following that, RAC1 is now reporting that Barcelona also generated record revenue from ticketing for a single game, as they raised a total of €8.2 million from ticket sales for Sunday night’s encounter against Real Madrid.
Of this €8.2 million, it is being reported that around €3 million was generated from the VIP boxes alone.
As many as 95,745 people packed Spotify Camp Nou last night and Barcelona made sure that their fans who showed up to support them got their money’s worth.
Having fallen behind quite early in the match, the Blaugrana pulled off a stunning comeback win thanks to Franck Kessie’s stoppage-time winner after Sergi Roberto had equalised late in the first half.
As iterated earlier, the victory puts Xavi & co. in a commanding position in terms of the La Liga title race, more so with Real Madrid’s recent up-and-down performances.
With a lead in the Copa del Rey semi-finals over the Merengues also in the bag, fans can dream of a domestic treble in Xavi’s first full season in charge of the team.
