Barcelona Staff Using Ancelotti’s Pre-Match Comments To Fire Up Players Ahead Of Clasico
Barcelona are set to take on Real Madrid fourth time this year when the two traditional rivals meet each other in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semifinal this evening.
Coming on the back of three back-to-back defeats at the hands of their arch-rivals, Real Madrid are under absolute pressure to perform.
To that end, the under-fire coach Carlo Ancelotti had tried to motivate his players ahead of the game, by saying, “Tomorrow, it’s our turn to win,” in his pre-match presser.
There are suggestions that Ancelotti’s staff is planning to print those words in the dressing room in order to fire them up ahead of the tie.
However, according to Javi Miguel of AS, Xavi Hernandez and his staff have found their own way of motivating the Barcelona players.
It appears the Catalans’ coaching staff is planning to use Ancelotti’s words to fire up the Barça stars, knowing the pressure is on Real Madrid to secure a win this evening.
The Whites have suffered three back-to-back defeats to Barça since the turn of the year. And Xavi wants to ensure that it turns into four later tonight, which would earn them a spot in the Copa del Rey final.
One of Barça’s three wins came in the Copa del Rey semifinal first-leg, with the Catalans securing a 1-0 victory. That means even a draw could help the team seal a place in the final and stand a chance of completing a domestic treble.
With the match set to kick off soon, all eyes will be on both teams to see who will come out on top in this high-stakes encounter. The stage is set for a classic clash between two of the biggest teams in Spanish football.
