Barcelona To Prioritise The Contract Registration Of Key Trio Before New Signings

Barcelona are staring at an uncertain summer transfer window. The biggest objective for the club will be to meet La Liga’s Fair Play demands so that they can have a free hand in the transfer market.

However, according to Cadena SER, Barcelona’s priority is not to sign new players in the market. Their absolute focus, once they achieved Fair Play demands, is to register the contracts of Gavi, Ronald Araujo and Alejandro Balde.

Gavi’s contract was notably annulled earlier this year by the Mercantile Court of Barcelona, meaning the youngster had to return to his old contract with Barça that expires at the end of the season.

Multiple clubs including Chelsea have taken note of Gavi’s situation and could pounce if they see an opportunity. Barcelona, therefore, are prioritising his contract registration before anything else.

The same goes for Ronald Araujo, who had signed a contract earlier but it is yet to be registered due to Barcelona violating FFP laws. The club are looking to reduce the cost of the workforce and make space for Araujo’s new contract, but they have yet to receive approval from La Liga.

As for Balde, the youngster is close to agreeing a renewal as he is keen to prolong his spell in Catalonia. With an agreement until 2027 understood to be on the horizon, Barcelona will be looking to prioritise his registration and avoid situations like that of Gavi and Araujo.

In any case, Barcelona are expected to make a move in the market only after they secure the registration of these three players who are going to play a vital role for the club in the years to come.

Apart from these, Barça also have to register the new contracts of Sergi Roberto and Marcos Alonso, both of whom signed renewals earlier this year.

As far as the signings are concerned, Lionel Messi remains the priority for the Blaugrana, with the Argentine reportedly set to leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season.
