Barcelona Will Move For €30 Million-Rated Right-Back In 2024, Player Ready To Wait
The right-back position is something that has been a problem for FC Barcelona for a while now. Last season, Xavi was forced to make do with deploying Jules Kounde as a makeshift right-sided full-back but the Frenchman does not intend to continue in the position.
So, the Blaugrana are in the market for a new right-back, but the current financial situation and the need to reinforce in other positions leaves them with a difficult predicament.
Amidst this, Joaquim Piera of SPORT is now reporting that Barcelona continue to hold an interest in AS Monaco right-back Vanderson, with sporting director Deco understood to be an admirer.
But given the financial situation, the Blaugrana will only try to sign him in 2024 and the Brazilian himself would be willing to stay at Monaco this summer in order to secure a move to Catalonia next year.
Vanderson is a player that has been on Barcelona’s radar for a while now. In fact, Deco had recommended his signing back in 2021 itself when he used to serve as an advisor to club president Joan Laporta.
At that time, the right-back was still at Gremio, but Monaco beat Barça to his signing. Mateu Alemany then probed the possibility of a move for the 22-year-old last summer but was priced out.
Now, though, all signs point towards the La Liga champions making a third attempt at signing Vanderson in 2024. A move for the 22-year-old would cost around €30 million, putting him out of reach for Barcelona this summer, which is why a transfer is being plotted for next year.
The right-back has been informed of Barça’s interest in signing him and he is willing to stay at Monaco and keep playing regularly to prepare for the big move in 2024.
As for this summer, the Blaugrana are understood to be able to spend around €10-15 million on a new right-back. And, Ivan Fresneda of Real Valladolid could be close to joining this summer.
With Fresneda potentially arriving this summer and a move for Vanderson being lined up in 2024, Barcelona’s right-back slot could be sorted for a long time.
