Bayern President Fires Shots At Barcelona Over Midfielder’s Pursuit: “Openly And Offensively”
Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has slammed FC Barcelona over their pursuit of midfielder Joshua Kimmich ahead of the summer transfer window.
Having signed Robert Lewandowski from the Bavarian giants last year, Barça have once again set their sights on the German champions, this time for Kimmich. The €80 million-rated mainstay is seen as one of the options to replace Sergio Busquets at the Catalan club.
Manager Xavi Hernandez has gone public about the club’s interest in the 28-year-old midfielder claiming that he would have to push for an exit for Barcelona to stand a chance to sign him in the summer.
“He is a super top player, who understands the game in a fantastic way. If there is an open door, there will be a negotiation with Bayern,” he had said earlier this month.
Last night, Barcelona’s ace striker and Kimmich’s former Bayern Munich teammate, Robert Lewandowski, also spoke about the Blaugrana’s interest in the midfielder, claiming that he is a player that everyone loves.
And these comments have seemingly not gone down too well with Bayern Munich, who have now fired back at Barcelona about their publicized pursuit of Kimmich. Speaking to Sky Germany, club president Herbert Hainer said:
“I don’t understand why they are openly and offensively making a play for our player. Joshua Kimmich is an absolute fixture for us!”
Despite Barcelona’s interest in Kimmich, a summer move looks extremely unlikely as the midfielder has dropped a hint that he wishes to remain at Bayern Munich for the time being.
Furthermore, Bayern’s reluctance to sell and Barça’s inability to spend big in the summer have seen his transfer get practically ruled out.
