Chelsea Fans Will Have To Get Used To Marc Cucurella, Who Will Not Be Sold Anytime Soon
Many Chelsea fans writing up their dream summer on paper are putting down Marc Cucurella as a player to be sold. Sadly that’s just not realistic, for a number of reasons.
The Blues spent big money on him a year ago and after a poor season, would have to take a huge loss on that. That’s just not happening.
Fabrizio Romano’s exclusive column for Caughtoffside reveals similar information:
“Marc Cucurella signed just eight months ago, it was a difficult year, not just for the player, but all the squad, the staff, the board, and the manager. Cucurella is fully focused on Chelsea, for sure. Chilwell is an important part of the project because the Blues want two players per position as all the top clubs do.”
So we’re just going to have to suck it up and get used to having Cucurella around now. That money is spent, and we’re better off hoping he improves than hoping someone comes in and tries to buy him.
If Ben Chilwell can stay injury free next year we will see a lot less of the former Brighton man, but it does leave some worrying question marks about Ian Maatsen, the academy product who has torn up the Championship with Burnley and would have been the perfect choice to back up.
