Chelsea are set to sell Edouard Mendy this summer following a breakdown in talks over a contract extension for the goalkeeper.
Mendy has struggled for regular first-team football this season and has started just eight fixtures in the Premier League, with Graham Potter having preferred Kepa Arrizabalaga since his appointment at Chelsea in September.
The Senegal international is understood to have ‘no intention’ of continuing his Chelsea career as a second choice and DEPREDICT are reporting that the 31-year-old will be one of the names allowed to move on at the end of the season.
Mendy signed for the west Londoners from Rennes in 2020 and shone during his debut season as Chelsea won the Champions League under Thomas Tuchel.
He equalled the record for the most clean sheets in a UEFA Champions League season with nine and was named as UEFA Goalkeeper of the Year and The Best FIFA Goalkeeper in 2021.
His exit will begin a clear out at Stamford Bridge, following the club’s record-breaking transfer spend across the past two windows. Chelsea are expected to trim their bloated squad in the off-season, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek among the names linked with an exit.
Mason Mount could also depart after contract talks with the midfielder stalled and Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City are said to be monitoring the England international’s situation.
