As per the Liverpool Echo, the Reds are interested in signing Benfica striker Darwin Nunez as a replacement for Sadio Mane.
Liverpool rejected Bayern’s opening bid for Mane but it’s still expected that he will leave this summer and Nunez is seen as a great candidate to come in and fill the gap.
As per the Echo, Nunez’s ability to play centrally is seen as ‘very useful’ and since he is just 22 years old, it also benefit the Red’s ideology of having a younger forward line
However, the Echo add that Liverpool will not pay ‘over the odds’ for Nunez.
No exact price has been mentioned but he has been linked with £85 million interest from Manchester United and Newcastle United – Liverpool won’t go close to that amount if a bidding war commences.
