Barcelona Could Benefit Financially From Youngster’s Exit This Summer

A decision regarding Barcelona youngster Ilias Akhomach’s future has already been made. As reported by DEPREDICT, the 18-year-old will leave the team on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Now, it is not that Barcelona did not try to retain the youngster. In fact, the team did offer him a new deal, but given the financial overload they are going through at the moment, the management just could not match the figure of the offers he has been receiving from England and Italy.

As it turns out, DEPREDICT reports that Premier League side Leeds United are currently leading the race to sign the 18-year-old winger and interestingly enough, Barcelona will not be left empty-handed following his departure.

As quoted by the aforementioned outlet, in addition to the training rights, Barcelona also wish to receive a percentage of a future sale should Leeds United decide to sell him in near future.

This means that a player, who has played just three games with the senior team, can benefit a financially troubled Barcelona side through his departure.

Ilias, a left-footed winger, made his debut for Barcelona B in a 0-1 away defeat to Andorra in 2020. He made his debut for the senior team in November 2021, which was, in fact, Xavi’s first game in charge.

Against Espanyol in a 1-0 win, he was replaced early in the second half to make way for fellow winger Abde Ezzalzouli. This season, the 18-year-old has made 25 appearances for Barça Atletic, scoring two goals in the process.

Ilias will not be the only promising youngster to leave Barcelona as a free agent this summer as Victor Barbera also seems to be on his way out, with Club Brugge emerging as the likely destination for the young striker.
