Ederson Taunts Arsenal Fans During Crucial Man City Defeat
Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson sought to rub salt in Arsenal’s wounds by taunting the travelling Gunners fans during Wednesday’s huge Premier League clash.
In a match which could well decide the winner of this season’s title, City came out on top in emphatic fashion as they secured a 4-1 victory which leaves them just two points behind Arsenal, having played two games fewer.
The result leaves an obvious sense of disappointment in the mouths of Arsenal fans, but it was one Ederson was evidently loving.
During the game, Ederson was seen mocking fans behind his goal for ‘crying’ about the result, attracting the attention of some celebrating City fans who encouraged him to keep going.
Duly obliging, Ederson stuck out his tongue at the Arsenal supporters, before turning his back and getting on with the game.
It was an eventful evening for Ederson, whose slow start to the game attracted so much fury from Pep Guardiola that the manager opted to berate his stopper instead of celebrating City’s opening goal.
The Brazilian was dragged over to the touchline for a public dressing down from Guardiola, who appeared to be encouraging him to play faster when in possession of the ball – something which noticeably improved after the talk.
Rob Holding’s late strike would ultimately deny Ederson an 11th clean sheet of the Premier League season, leaving him tied for sixth in the Golden Glove race.
David de Gea currently leads the way with 14, one ahead of Newcastle’s Nick Pope and two ahead of Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale, while Emiliano Martinez and Alisson both sit ahead of Ederson on 11.
