Erik Ten Hag Provides Christian Eriksen Injury Update Ahead Of Brentford CLash
Christian Eriksen will return to Manchester United squad training today after two months out with an ankle injury.
Eriksen was hacked down on multiple occasions by Reading striker Andy Carroll in an FA Cup fourth round win on January 28.
As a result, United have been without Eriksen for 15 matches, but he is also set to miss Wednesday night’s meeting with 7th placed Brentford.
There has been an increased amount of calls for Eriksen to return in recent weeks, with United failing to win a league match since lifting the Carabao Cup at Wembley in February.
Speaking to reporters ahead of United’s game against Brentford, Erik ten Hag was asked about Eriksen’s availability, two weeks after his return to outdoor training.
“Not for tomorrow but he’s returning on the pitch,” Ten Hag said, as per Manchester Evening News. “He’s returning into team training today, so we have to see now how quickly he can make the progress.”
It will be a boost to have Eriksen back, but Ten Hag is giving nothing specific away about is return date. Maybe we’ll see the Dane on the bench when the Reds take on Everton this weekend.
“Two quality players,” Ten Hag said when posed a separate question about being without not just Eriksen but Casemiro. “The midfield department, games will always be decide in midfield, when uni miss two quality players, it’s clear. But you have a squad, if you don’t have them you still have to win.”
