Erling Haaland And Sam Kerr Win FWA Footballer Of The Year Awards
The Football Writers’ Association has revealed the two winners of its prestigious Footballer of the Year awards.
The awards are voted for by the 800 or so members of the FWA, and Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is the men’s winner with a landslide 72% of the vote – the biggest margin since the Premier League began.
The 22-year-old has scored an incredible 51 goals in his debut season in English football after joining City from Borussia Dortmund last summer.
Meanwhile, the winner of the women’s award is Chelsea striker Sam Kerr, who becomes the first back-to-back winner of the Women’s Footballer of the Year.
The Australian polled twice as many votes as Rachel Daly of Aston Villa and England.
Both players will receive their awards at the Landmark Hotel London on Thursday May 25 at a special Footballer of the Year dinner, marking the 75th anniversary of the award, first won by Sir Stanley Matthews in 1948.
