Erling Haaland Is Real Madrid’s Top Target For 2024, Release Clause Around €220-240 Million
Real Madrid’s interest in Erling Haaland is out in the open. Last summer, the Los Blancos decided to focus on Kylian Mbappe as he would arrive on a free transfer and this gave Haaland his ticket to sign for Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund.
Madrid’s attentiveness towards the Norweigian will continue to persist, especially during the 2024 summer transfer window. This is exactly why his visit to Santiago Bernabeu was expected to be special. As it turns out, the off-the-field issues related to his father pulled him away from the limelight.
Alf-Inge Haaland was present at the venue and he was booed by the Madrid supporters after he allegedly threw peanuts into the public. Haaland Sr. and Madrid fans threw some gestures toward each other before the former was evicted from the scene.
Responding to the scene that was created, the footballer’s father explained, “Madrid were not happy because we celebrated De Bruyne’s goal and we had to move because the fans were not happy either. I didn’t do that (throw peanuts at the public).
“It isn’t true. We had some good banter with the Madrid fans. They weren’t happy when City scored. Normal. Then we had to move 50 meters away. Nothing else. Everyone is happy. Well almost…”.
Now, regardless of what happened between the fans and his father, the fact remains that he is going to be the main objective for Real Madrid for the summer of 2024.
According to AS, despite having a contract with City until 2027, a termination clause will come into effect in 2024, where he can leave the team if Madrid pay an amount of around €220 – €240 million.
Haaland’s time at the Bernabeu wasn’t really fruitful as the striker was outsmarted by Antonio Rudiger to the extent that he completed a mere 12 passes on the night, eight of which came in Madrid’s half. He lost possession five times and had only two shots on target without any danger.
But regardless of what happened on the night, Madrid will not lose track of his progress as, after all, he has scored 51 goals this season.
