- Everton Complete £15M Deal For Sporting Youngster.
Everton have confirmed the signing of striker Youssef Chermiti from Sporting for an undisclosed fee, reported to be £15m including add-ons.
The 19-year-old has signed a four-year deal on Merseyside.
The Portugal Under-19 international leaves the club he joined as an academy prospect in 2016 after 16 appearances and three goals, having only made his first team debut in January.
Speaking to EvertonTV on his move, the club’s new No. 28 said: “It’s a big move for me. Joining Everton is a new beginning, a new page and I’m very happy to be here. It is a beautiful city and a beautiful club.”
“I’m looking forward to meeting the fans, my new teammates and to get to work with the coach. I want to embrace everything about the club.”
Toffees manager Sean Dyche added: “Youssef is a talented young striker who can add a different dimension to our squad.
“He is still a teenager who is learning his game, which we will be mindful of, but we think he has the raw talent and ingredients to be a very good player and that’s why we are pleased to have signed him for Everton.”
Chermiti becomes Dyche’s third signing of the summer after the free transfer of Ashley Young and loan signing of Arnaut Danjuma.
