Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has admitted that he would want to coach FC Barcelona in his career.
Arne Slot took charge of Feyenoord in the summer of 2021 and has done wonders with the team in his short time at the helm of affairs.
Having led them to a third-place finish last season behind AFC Ajax and PSV, the 44-year-old has taken Feyenoord to the top of the Eredivisie standings in the ongoing campaign.
Indeed, Slot’s team have opened up an eight-point lead over fellow Dutch heavyweights in Ajax and PSV.
On top of that, Feyenoord are also on the cusp of qualifying for the UEFA Europa League semi-final, having a one-goal lead over Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma heading into the quarter-final second leg tonight.
Naturally, Slot’s work has led to attraction from clubs across Europe. The 44-year-old Dutch tactician is understood to be on the radars of clubs like Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, and Crystal Palace.
While he admitted that he reckons the Premier League is the best competition in Europe, when asked to name the one team he would love to manage, Slot replied: “Barcelona”.
The 44-year-old, who also admitted that he prefers Pep Guardiola over Jose Mourinho, might be keen on coaching Barcelona, but that is unlikely to happen for the time being at least.
Xavi Hernandez has done a solid job at the club since assuming the role of manager in November 2021. The 43-year-old club legend is on his way to guide the Blaugrana to their first La Liga title since 2019.
With his contract expiring in 2024, Barcelona are already working to renew his deal by adding two more years to keep him at the club until 2026.
