Injury Update: Andreas Christensen Could Be Back For Real Betis Clash
According to Javi Miguel of AS, Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen could be back in time for the game against Real Betis on Saturday night. If not, the Dane will return against Osasuna next week, but will miss the upcoming match versus Rayo Vallecano.
Christensen suffered a calf injury during the international break last month while playing for Denmark. The former Chelsea ace was expected to be out for three weeks, but it seems like his recovery could take a tad bit longer than that.
Christensen has already missed five games for the Blaugrana, having been unavailable for the matches against Elche, Real Madrid, Girona, Getafe, and Atletico Madrid.
It was reported that the 26-year-old was in the final phase of his recovery and could be in contention to feature against Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday night.
However, it is now being claimed that Christensen will not be ready in time for the trip to Vallecas and could be returning for the home game against Real Betis.
If not against Manuel Pellegrini’s side, the ex-Chelsea ace could be back for the game after that against CA Osasuna in early May.
Since arriving at the club in the summer on a free transfer, Christensen has grown into a key player for Xavi’s Barcelona. The Dane has played 25 matches in all competitions for the club and chipped in with a solitary assist as well.
Apart from Christensen, Ousmane Dembele is also set to miss the upcoming match against Rayo Vallecano, even though it was expected that he would return for the away game this midweek. He is also pencilled in to return against Real Betis on Saturday night.
