James Rodriguez Made A Move To Brazilian Club As Free Agent
- James Rodriguez Secures New Club After Three Month As Free Agent.
James Rodriguez has made a surprise move to Brazilian outfit São Paulo.
The Colombia international spent three months as a free agent after Olympiakos terminated his contract in April.
But after his 23-game spell in Greece, Rodriguez secured a switch to São Paulo on Saturday by signing a contract until June 2025.
“James arrives to add strength to a squad that has demonstrated remarkable quality, competitiveness and commitment,” said the club’s director of football Carlos Belmonte.
“It is a signing that fits in with our philosophy of qualifying the group in each transfer window.
“We are receiving an athlete of indisputable talent and trajectory, who has shown immense willingness to make history in Brazil and especially in São Paulo.”
Rodriguez previously represented a host of European clubs including Porto, Monaco, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Everton.
The 32-year-old, who won the Golden Boot at the 2014 World Cup, also spent a season at Qatari side Al-Rayyan prior to his ill-fated move to Olympiakos.
