Jose Mourinho Would Be Open To Real Madrid Return If Approach Is Made
The Copa de Rey final wins goes a long way in assuring Carlo Ancelotti of a further season at Real Madrid. Glory on the European front, meanwhile, would rule out any speck of doubt over the matter and give the administration complete trust in the Italian.
However, the agreement to continue depends on both parties. While there may be complete clearance on Los Blancos’ side, uncertainty will continue to look until Ancelotti commits completely to another season.
The manager has repeatedly reiterated in his press conferences that he wishes to see out his contract at the club. However, the administration’s poor handling of his situation and the offer from the Brazilian National Team are two factors that could push him towards the exit door.
According to reports from Fabrice Hawkins, Jose Mourinho could be an option to take over in such a situation. The Portuguese tactician may have rejected Chelsea’s approach earlier this month but is said to be willing to accept offers from either Real Madrid or PSG.
Mourinho was the man on the sidelines at the Santiago Bernabeu between 2010-2013 and won three trophies in that duration – the Copa del Rey, La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup.
His three-year spell at the club did not end pleasantly as his relations with the players, fans and media hit rock bottom for a number of reasons. That said, it remains to be seen if the administration at Real Madrid are willing to talk over a return.
The 60-year-old currently manages AS Roma and has overseen 103 games for the Italian outfit. Of that, his side have won 53 while losing 29. Under his tutelage, the club won the UEFA Conference League in 2022 and thus ended their trophy drought that began in 2007-08.
A return might not be considered at this moment though, with Real Madrid and Ancelotti looking set to continue their partnership for another year at least.
