With Barcelona looking to shed some weight off their wage bill and generate fresh revenue, they will be turning to player sales this summer, with Ansu Fati being the one most heavily linked with a departure.
Now, according to The Independent (h/t Express), Premier League giants Arsenal have been offered an opportunity to sign Fati from Barcelona this summer via intermediaries.
Arsenal have been mentioned as a possible destination for the young Spanish international in the past well, along with other clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool.
Having missed out on the Premier League title, Mikel Arteta’s side are on the lookout for options to strengthen their squad in the summer so that they can bridge the gap to champions Manchester City.
And, as per the report, manager Arteta is keen on shoring up his flanks to add more cover and competition for the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.
As such, Fati’s name has been put on the table at the Emirates Stadium, with intermediaries exploring whether there is serious interest from Arsenal in signing the Barcelona youngster. However, the Gunners are yet to respond to the approach.
Fati, a product of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, was tipped as the future of the club when he burst onto the scenes back in 2019. However, a series of injuries hampered his development in the last two seasons.
While he has been fit for the most part this time out, the 20-year-old has failed to convince his manager Xavi Hernandez enough. As a result, Fati has hardly played regularly this season.
Barcelona remain intent on his sale despite the player’s reluctance to leave. They are hoping to rake in around €40-50 million from the attacker’s sale.
Only time will tell whether Arsenal take up the opportunity to sign the Spanish international or if he ends up at a different club.
