La Liga Believe Barcelona Will Be Able To Excute Thier Economic Viability Plan
With the month of May already kicking in, Barcelona are looking for assurances from La Liga ahead of a busy summer.
Recent reports in the Spanish media have not set a positive outlook, with La Liga reportedly not very confident of Barcelona’s ability to follow through with the plans. The club themselves consider La Liga’s demands a bit difficult and they could have a hard time executing the plan.
Prominent Spanish journalist Gerard Romero has chimed in on the matter, suggesting Barcelona’s Feasibility Plan is still there and it is now up to the club to execute the plans in the coming summer.
According to Romero, La Liga believe Barcelona can execute the plans and lower their salary mass in an attempt to bring in new players. Meeting the FFP demands set by the Spanish footballing league could be vital if the club are to sign their top targets including Lionel Messi.
With the end of the season fast approaching and the Argentine facing immense pressure to renew his contract at Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona must move swiftly and start executing the viability plan.
One of the ways Barça could execute the plans is to sanction the sale of unwanted stars such as Clement Lenglet, Samuel Umtiti and Sergino Dest as soon as possible. The club are also looking to lower the salaries of their star players, notably offering Sergio Busquets a substantial salary cut.
Barcelona had even reportedly approached new signings Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen for a salary cut, though the former’s agents have denied the claims.
Another avenue for generating fresh income could be sponsorship. Barcelona may also look to sell the remaining 24% stake in Barça Studios for a higher valuation than they did last summer. That should go a long way in helping them reduce the cost of the workforce and add fresh revenue to the coffers.
