Arsenal And Tottenham Interested In Signing Crystal Palace Defender

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi this summer, according to the Evening Standard.

The centre-back has impressed for the Eagles this season, helping them to keep seven clean sheets in 33 appearances. He has won 60% of his duels.

Guehi has contributed one goal while recording 85% passing accuracy. He is a solid defender that has established himself in senior men’s football since leaving Chelsea.

The 22-year-old has received his first call-up to the England national team. England boss Gareth Southgate called him up for the international games in March.

Guehi will be hot property in the summer transfer window. The Gunners will battle it out with North London rivals Spurs for his signature.

Tottenham have a long-term interest in Guehi and admired him for a while. They need to overhaul their defence which has conceded 15 goals in their last four games.

Clement Lenglet will return to Barcelona after his unremarkable one-year loan deal. They will not try to sign him permanently.

Also, Davinson Sanchez’s future is uncertain, and he might leave the club this summer. They need reinforcement at the back.

As for Arsenal, they are looking for defensive cover for William Saliba. The Frenchman has been out for over a month, and the Gunners have suffered in his absence.

Rob Holding has been underwhelming playing as the backup to Saliba. The lack of depth has cost them in their title pursuit.

Furthermore, Holding’s contract expires in 2024, and they could decide to sell to avoid losing him for free.

It is unclear how much Crystal Palace will demand from Guehi’s suitors, but they will be looking to make a healthy profit on the £18 million they paid to Chelsea in 2021.

The Blues will get a decent percentage on any future sale. They can also match any offer for him. But they are not in the market for new defenders.
