Brighton and Hove Albion star Alexis Mac Allister is on the radar of Premier League trio Liverpool, Manchester United, and Chelsea, reports Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Mac Allister first signed for Brighton in January 2019. He didn’t make his debut for the Seagulls until over a year later, following spells on loan at Argentinos Juniors and Boca Juniors.
But it wasn’t long until the midfielder became a regular at the AMEX Stadium. This season, he has been his side’s joint-top scorer in all competitions with ten, helping them to seventh place in the Premier League and the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
On top of this, he has enjoyed success on the international stage. He was a key part of Lionel Scaloni’s Argentina side that won the World Cup in 2022, scoring once and recording an assist in the final from six starts.
Earlier this season, the 24-year-old signed a new contract at Brighton until 2025, with an option to extend by a further year. However, recent reports suggest that he is likely to transfer this summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, he could be set to remain in England, with Liverpool, Manchester United, and Chelsea all eyeing up his services.
Liverpool have been in dire need of reinforcements in midfield for a while now. Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are both expected to depart in the summer on a free transfer, while the likes of James Milner, Jordan Henderson, and Fabinho all appear to be past their best.
For a long time, Borussia Dortmund youngster Jude Bellingham was at the top of the Reds’ wish list. However, it is believed that his asking price is too high, and they will now pursue alternative options.
Man Utd may also be in the hunt for more long-term options in midfield. Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, and Fred are all on the wrong side of 30, while Marcel Sabitzer is only on loan.
Despite this, the Red Devils are more likely to prioritise a move for a striker this summer. Harry Kane is a known target, and fellow Brighton man Evan Ferguson has also been linked with a switch to Old Trafford.
As for Chelsea, a number of their central midfielders are rumoured to be on the move. Denis Zakaria is unlikely to remain upon the expiry of his loan deal, and Mason Mount and N’Golo Kante are nearing the expiry of their contracts.
