As the long wait for the 34 years Moeen Ali has ended and he is now all set to join the Chennai Super Kings on Thursday (March 24). The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise and family have confirmed that the all-rounder has got his visa papers to travel to India.
“He picked his papers yesterday and is ready to fly,” said his father Munir Ali. “He will arrive in Mumbai in the evening and will straight away go into isolation,” said Kasi Viswanathan, the CEO of the franchise.
The visa clearance did not come, however, soon enough for the player to be available for the team’s first game. “He will not be available for the first game against Kolkata Knight Riders but we are happy that all the uncertainty has ended,” said the franchise CEO.
The IPL starts on Saturday (March 26, 2022) and being the defending champions, the Super Kings play the very first game.
The English all-rounder had applied for the travel papers on February 28 but inexplicably enough the visa took more than three weeks to come despite the cricketer being a frequent traveller to India, having taken part in last three IPLs.
