Newcastle United To Make Summer Bid For Bayer Leverkusen Winger Moussa Diaby
According to L’Équipe, Newcastle United will make a move for Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby this summer but may face stiff competition for the Frenchman’s signature from clubs like Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal.
The French publication are reporting that interest in the French international, who move to Bayer Leverkusen from PSG for €15m three years ago, is high.
Within this context, Diaby is expected to leave the Bundesliga club this summer, having played 167 times for the club, during which time he has scored 49 goals and registered 48 assists.
The Frenchman does, however, have a contract that runs until 2025, so he won’t leave cheaply, especially given the calibre of suitors.
During the winter transfer window, PSG Sporting Consultant Luís Campos studied the possibility of repatriating Diaby, alongside the discussions that were already taking place over the potential arrival of Olympique Lyonnais’ Rayan Cherki.
Diaby remains on PSG’s shortlist this summer, alongside names such as Bernardo Silva of Manchester City, and Michael Olise of Crystal Palace.
Newcastle, meanwhile, have been interested in the player for two years, and according to L’Équipe will make a concrete attempt to prise the player away from Bayer Leverkusen this summer.
Arsenal are also interested, as are AC Milan, but there are doubts that the latter have the financial means to pull off a deal, who according to a report from L’Équipe in early March, is reportedly valued at around €100m.
