Paolo Maldini And Ricky Massara Ready To Leave Milan

Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are now set to leave the Rossoneri this summer.

Speculation today suggested that Maldini’s future was in doubt after a rather unsatisfactory meeting in the city with Gerry Cardinale. Sky Italia have now confirmed that the Milan owner has decided that not just Maldini, but Massara will also depart the club soon.

Only the official announcement is pending, with the contracts of both running out in the summer of 2024. Instead of signing new people to replace the duo, Milan will internally recruit to fill the roles. Head of scouting Geoffrey Moncada could be handed an upgrade in his role, with the same expected for club managing director Giorgio Furlani.

Maldini returned to Milan in the summer of 2018, nine years after his retirement, assuming the role of director of strategic development in the sports area. In 2019, after Leonardo’s resignation, Maldini became head of the technical area. Together with Massara, Maldini built the team that won the Scudetto in the 2021-2022 season, bringing the crown back to San Siro after 11 years and thus winning his first trophy in that role.
