West Ham United can sign Mainz captain Moussa Niakhate in the summer transfer window for a truly incredible bargain.
That’s according to a report from The Telegraph who claim that the Hammers could face competition from Everton for the Mainz ace’s signature this summer.
Central defence is obviously an area at the London Stadium where David Moyes will be desperate to strengthen at the end of the season.
Angelo Ogbonna is still out with an ACL injury and will be 34 before the start of next season. Meanwhile, Issa Diop is out injured as well and the jury is still very much out on whether he is good enough to be playing Premier League football.
Craig Dawson will soon be 32 and Kurt Zouma’s continual problems with injury really are becoming a huge concern.
And it seems as though Moyes could really bolster his central defensive ranks at minimal cost this summer.
West Ham could seal bargain deal for Niakhate
The Telegraph reckon that it will cost just £8 million for the Hammers to prise the towering Frenchman away from Mainz in the summer.
If that is true, Moyes absolutely cannot afford to miss out on the centre-back.
The 6ft 3in Niakhate has been outstanding for Mainz this season.
In 27 Bundesliga games for Mainz this season, Niakhate has scored three goals. During those appearances, the 26-year-old has averaged 1.3 tackles, 1.7 interceptions and 2.1 clearances per match. He has also won two aerial duels on average per game (Who Scored).
Niakhate has made 44.4 passes on average per match and has recorded a completion rate of 78.1% (Who Scored).
He has been described as an unbelievable defender by the official website of the Bundesliga.
Niakhate can also play at left-back, so that will obviously appeal to David Moyes.
£8 million for Niakhate would be sensational business for West Ham this summer and it is a bargain deal that we should be wrapping up immediately.
