Pedri Suffers Setback In Injury Recovery, Will Miss Another Month For Barcelona
Despite their healthy lead and consistent performances in domestic competitions, Barcelona have had a difficult time with injuries since the turn of the year.
The likes of Ousmane Dembele and Robert Lewandowski have both picked up knocks that have kept him out on the sidelines. But the biggest loss for Barça has been the injury of Pedri, who is still out injured after picking up a knock earlier in the year.
Pedri was expected to recover from his injury during the international break, but his name was withdrawn from the Spain squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers.
Now, a recent report from Catalunya Radio suggests that Barcelona are set for yet another setback as Pedri will be absent for another three or four weeks due to a relapse in his thigh injury.
This means the young midfielder will be ruled out for Barcelona’s second-leg Copa Del Rey outing against Real Madrid, contrary to what was expected earlier. A tentative date for the player’s return could be the April 23 tie with Atletico Madrid.
Barcelona team doctors want to avoid taking any risks, which is why a specific time frame has not been mentioned. The club’s idea is to have Pedri back to full fitness for the last month and a half of the season, when the Blaugrana may get to take part in the Copa Del Rey final.
