POGBA IS UNLIKELY TO PLAY AGAIN THIS SEASON FOR MANCHESTER UNITED

Paul Pogba ruled out and can not feature again this season for Manchester United

Pogba (France International) sustained a calf problem in the early stages of the defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday night, with Jesse Lingard replacing him as substitute.

Scans have since shown that the injury is set to keep the former Academy product out of action for around a month and, with five games to go, the chances are that he will not be involved in the run-in.

“With Paul, it seems, after the scan we did yesterday or the day before yesterday, it’s very unlikely that he will play until the end of the season again,” Rangnick said in his pre-match press conference, before the game at Arsenal on Saturday.

“The doctor told me that it will take four weeks, minimum, for him to recover and, since the last game is at the end of May, I don’t think it’s very likely that he will be able to play again.”

Pogba has made 27 appearances this term for United, and a further seven for France, and has scored once for the Reds in 2021/22 – a belter in the 1-1 draw at Burnley, in February.

He has registered an impressive nine assists in 20 Premier League outings since August.

The 29-year-old’s current contract at Old Trafford is due to expire in the summer.
