Rayo Vallecano left-back Fran Garcia will re-join Real Madrid this summer, reports Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The 23-year-old joined Andoni Iraola’s side on loan in 2020 in the Spanish second division.
Garcia made the move permanent the following year after Rayo secured promotion.
However, Madrid recognised his huge potential and included a buyback clause in the deal. The La Liga club also included a 50% sell-on clause and have activated both.
Madrid have triggered their buyback clause for €10 million, but they will only part with €5m as a result of the sell-on clause.
Both teams are ready to exchange the necessary documents, with Garcia set to sign a five-year deal.
Madrid left-back Ferland Mendy is currently out of action after suffering a thigh injury in the Copa del Rey quarter-final against Atletico Madrid last month.
Manager Carlo Ancelotti has had to play defensive midfielder Eduardo Camavinga in the position since then.
The Frenchman has not put a foot wrong, but Madrid need a quality cover and have gone for Garcia.
They have kept tabs on him for while and have finally made their move.
Mendy has suffered a dip in form in recent months, and he was left out of the France World Cup squad as a result.
Garcia is not necessarily better than him, but he has what it takes to pip the 27-year-old to the starting berth.
The Rayo star has assisted two goals in 21 La Liga games this term. He is also a better crosser than Mendy and can never be caught napping as the Frenchman.
