Report: Man United Show Interest In Signing ‘Untouchable’ Barcelona Defender
A recent report from Mundo Deportivo has offered a detailed update on Barcelona players and how they are being targeted by top clubs across Europe.
As per the report, Barcelona are running the risk of various first-team stars in the coming summer, as the club look to generate fresh revenue and more importantly, reduce the salary mass in the squad.
One of the players being targeted by other clubs is Andreas Christensen. The Dane has enjoyed an excellent start to his life at Camp Nou, establishing himself as a first-team regular under Xavi Hernandez.
Christensen’s combination alongside Ronald Araujo and Jules Kounde have helped Barcelona emerge as one of the best defensive teams in Europe. The club have conceded only 11 goals in 33 league matches this term, and are on the verge of breaking records in La Liga.
Christensen’s performances have not gone unnoticed, with the report MD suggesting that Manchester United are among the clubs interested in his services.
The Premier League giants are keen on reinforcing their options at the back this summer, as coach Erik ten Hag looks to build a team strong enough to compete for the league title this season. Christensen, to that end, has emerged as the ideal candidate.
However, it must be noted that Barcelona are not too keen on offloading the Danish international. The club have acknowledged the defender’s unprecedented success and want to keep hold of him as long as possible, knowing he could play a key role in the Barça defence in the years to come.
While Christensen might be ‘untouchable’, Barcelona could be open to the sale of other defenders in the team, though. One such option could be Eric Garcia, who has failed to make an impact and could be offloaded in the coming summer.
