Roberto Firmino Would Be ‘Delighted’ To Join Barcelona, But Club Have Other Priorities
Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino bid an emotional goodbye to Anfield this past weekend as he played his final home game for the club. Indeed, the Brazilian is set to leave the Reds when his contract expires on June 30.
And, according to SPORT, Firmino has offered himself to new La Liga champions Barcelona ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 31-year-old is understood to be on the radars of several clubs across Europe and outside. Inter Milan have made enquiries for him while teams in Saudi Arabia are also ready to splash the cash to hand him a lucrative contract.
Some clubs in Turkey are also believed to be interested in acquiring the veteran forward’s services in the summer, while he has offers from the Premier League itself.
However, Firmino is prioritising a move to Barcelona and would be ‘delighted’ to join the Catalan heavyweights. Some reports in England have even suggested that the Liverpool ace will be headed to Spotify Camp Nou on a free transfer.
But, as things stand, Barcelona are not looking at Firmino as a priority target. They are aware of the Brazilian’s situation and his interest in a move and his profile might even fit into what the club are looking for.
However, at the moment, there are other priority options when it comes to the centre-forward position.
Vitor Roque of Athletico Paranaense remains Barça’s main target and they are studying ways to sign him while navigating the Financial Fair Play issues.
If the young Brazilian does not arrive, Barcelona have their eyes on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as a backup option, although they will only sign him if he comes for free.
As such, Firmino is not a priority, but the Brazilian prefers to wait and see if the newly-crowned La Liga champions make a move for him in the coming weeks.
