Romelu Lukaku Shows His Class As Second Half Double Helps Inter Beat Empoli
Romelu Lukaku was at his best on Sunday as the Belgian striker netted twice to see Inter beat Empoli 3-0.
Scorers: Lukaku 48′ 76′, Lautaro 89′
With Juventus having their 15-point penalty overturned this week, Inter came into this clash in sixth place and clinging on to the hope of Champions League football next term.
They travelled to an Empoli outfit in 15th place but still likely in need of at least two more win this term to keep them in the division.
But it was a fairly uninspiring first half with the Nerazzurri clearly suffering a hangover from their brilliant exploits against Benfica in midweek.
Almost immediately in the second half however Simone Inzaghi’s side got themselves ahead as Lukaku scored with their first shot on target.
The Chelsea loanee then doubled his tally for the afternoon with 15 minutes to go as he finished with aplomb with a low drive.
The win was complete in the dying moments as Lautaro Martinez raced on to a pass from Lukaku and side-footed in.
