Roy Keane has predicted that Liverpool will overcome Chelsea to win the FA Cup this season.
Liverpool beat Manchester City 3-2 at Wembley on Saturday to move into the final of the competition.
Likewise, Chelsea swept aside Crystal Palace 2-0 at the same venue yesterday afternoon to book a showdown with the Reds.
This is the second domestic cup competition that Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel will contest this season, with the Anfield outfit beating their London rivals on penalties to lift the Carabao Cup in February.
Liverpool are on course to win four competitions this season, a reflection of how exceptional their squad is.
And Keane, speaking to ITV Sport, believes that the Reds’ strengh in depth will see them move past the West Londoners at Wembley next month.
He said: “If any team’s going to beat Liverpool this season it’ll have to be some effort. The feel good factor, the quality of the players. They look sharp, they look strong, great squad, great manager, they’ll take a lot of stopping. [Chelsea are] Not as sharp or as strong or Liverpool.”
WHEN IS THE FA CUP FINAL?
The final of the competition will take place on May 14.
And Keane is right – Liverpool will be favourites to bring the trophy back to Merseyside.
Since the turn of 2022, the Reds have been perhaps the strongest team in Europe and it’s just so difficult seeing anybody beat them.
On Saturday, they were leading 3-0 at half time against Manchester City, another one of the continent’s best teams.
And any outfit that can inflict that sort of damage on this City side is a serious, serious threat.
