Southampton are expected to complete the season-long loan signing of Everton’s Mason Holgate.
According to the Athletic, the 26-year-old is due to travel to the south coast on Friday to undergo a medical and finalise the deal, which has no option or obligation to buy for Saints.
Holgate has not featured in either of Everton’s opening two Premier League matchday squads, having fallen out of favour under Sean Dyche last season.
In total, the former Barnsley player has made 149 appearances for the Toffees in his eight-year stint on Merseyside.
His impending arrival at St. Mary’s continues a busy summer for new manager Russell Martin, whose squad has greatly changed since their relegation to the Championship.
Martin is looking to bring in more players before the transfer deadline, with his former Swansea player Nathan Wood rumoured to be in the mix.
