Tottenham Hotspur are rivalling Chelsea in the race to sign Inter Milan striker Martin Satriano this summer, even with the Italian side reluctant to deal.
That’s according to The Mirror (24/04, p75), who claim that Satriano is a wanted man ahead of the summer transfer window.
Satriano is owned by Inter but is currently out on loan in France with Ligue 1 side Brest.
The Uruguayan striker has impressed, bagging four goals in 12 league games since his January loan switch.
Foot Mercato in France recently compared Satriano to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, which is a pretty bold suggestion.
Satriano stands at 6ft 2in tall but would need to need to become much bigger and stronger to be like Ibrahimovic.
Still, he has shown quick feet and a real imagination around the final third during his time with Brest, which may explain the likeness.
Satriano is set to return to Inter this summer but with just four appearances to his name with the Italian giants, his future is unclear.
It’s now claimed that Tottenham fancy bringing Satriano to North London with Antonio Conte no doubt familiar with him.
Chelsea also fancy the 21-year-old striker even though they are unable to actually sign players as things stand.
That may allow Tottenham to sneak ahead in the race for Satriano and get some groundwork done on a potential deal.
We’re more accustomed to seeing Lautaro Martinez being linked to Tottenham but it may instead by the younger Satriano targeted by Spurs.
Satriano at least wouldn’t immediately expect first-team football ahead of Harry Kane. Tottenham may be able to bring him along gradually rather than have to juggle him and Kane.
Inter would allegedly consider ‘serious offers’ for Satriano this summer, with their need for funds potentially ideal for Tottenham.
