Report: Inter Milan Eye Barcelona Midfielder As A Priority Target For The Summer

Inter Milan were one of the clubs that were interested in the services of Franck Kessie in January. The Serie A giants wanted to sign the Barcelona midfielder, who had been struggling for minutes due to stiff competition.

Kessie ended up remaining at Camp Nou, citing his desire to fight for his place in the team. And almost a month after the transfer market came to an end, the midfielder has indeed been experiencing more minutes in the first team, largely thanks to injuries and suspensions to other midfield options for Barcelona.

Inter Milan have not lost sight of Kessie just yet. They are closely monitoring the midfielder’s situation at Camp Nou and want to bring him back to Italy in the near future as a priority.

Barcelona have refused to discuss Kessie’s future. They will not take up the matter with Inter until the end of the season.

The player, for his part, has refused to talk about his future. He rejected many proposals to end up at Barça and his current goal is to succeed at Camp Nou. However, given the stern competition in the midfield department, the Ivorian may only have limited opportunities to make an impression.

And should the former AC Milan star fail to win the trust of Xavi during the second half of the campaign, he may ultimately leave the club on a permanent basis.

Kessie’s departure, in fact, could prove to be integral in Barça’s bid to open up more space in the first team and generate fresh revenue. However, the fate of the midfielder remains in his own hands.

Inter, for their part, are prepared to tempt Barcelona by arranging a swap deal involving Marcelo Brozovic. However, everything will depend on how Kessie fares in the coming weeks and what he wants to do in the summer.
