TSIMIKAS STARTS AND SALAH DECISION MADE AS LIVERPOOL LINEUP EMERGES- CONFIRMED.

Liverpool starting XI: Alisson; Gomez, Matip, Gomez, Tsimikas; Henderson, Milner, Keita; Jota, Firmino, Diaz.

Liverpool substitutes: Kelleher, Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Fabinho, Robertson, Thiago, Jones, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Elliott, Mane, Salah, Origi.

Liverpool return to Champions League action this evening as they host Benfica in the second leg of their quarter-final clash.

The Reds know that Villarreal are waiting in the semi-finals having beaten Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.

Liverpool go with Alisson in goal tonight but Virgil van Dijk is given the night off.

That means Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate start as Liverpool’s centre backs tonight, with Joe Gomez at right back and Kostas Tsimikas at left back.

Jordan Henderson keeps his place in midfield having started against Manchester City, with Naby Keita and James Milner joining him in the engine room.

Mohamed Salah is handed something of a rest having looked exhausted of late, which means Diogo Jota likely shifts to the right flank.

Roberto Firmino leads the line in attack with Luis Diaz over on the left flank, looking to score against Benfica once again.

Salah and Van Dijk both make the bench, joining Caoimhin Kelleher, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Andrew Robertson, Thiago Alcantara, Curtis Jones, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Harvey Elliott, Sadio Mane and Divock Origi.
