WE ARE CONFIDENT GOING INTO THE GAME AGAINST ASTON VILLA – CARTER

The 24 years Jess Carter believes Chelsea Women can maintain their fine league form today as they host Aston Villa at Kingsmeadow in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.

Chelsea the Blues are unbeaten in the league so far in 2022, winning three of thier five WSL fixtures since January.

The race for the title intensified on Thursday evening as chelsea women ran out 4:1 winners against West Ham United at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.

‘It was a good game and we were happy to get the result, that’s what matters most in what’s been a difficult period for us all. Everybody grinded, everybody worked very hard to get the result,’ said Jess Carter.

JESS CARTER FOR THE BLUES

Chelsea got the win against the Irons following a disappointing defeat to Manchester City in the Continental Tyres League Cup final last weekend. Carter believes it could be even more motivation for the Blues to clinch the WSL title.

‘Obviously we hate losing here at Chelsea, we want to win everything. The fact that we’re back to winning ways is good and hopefully we can just continue this for the rest of the season now.

‘We’ll be confident going into the Aston Villa game after the result against West Ham. It’s a quick turnaround so we just have to rest up, recover and get ready to go again.’

Our No7 is expecting a tough game against the Villans this afternoon, adding: ‘They’re a tough side, they’ll be difficult to break down, they work very hard. But, I think if we just stick to our game plan and work harder than them, then the result will take care of itself.’

The Blues have a relentless run of fixtures with a total of seven games in March. Having already played three of those, Carter revealed she enjoys the fixtures coming thick and fast.

‘I do personally! I like having lots of games, but it is very difficult with the timings, to recover in time. And, when you’ve got illnesses and niggles the squad shortens, the demand gets quite high.’
