West Ham United are reportedly working on a deal to sign Rennes defender Nayef Aguerd in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to a report from The Sun who claim that the Rennes centre-half could be London Stadium bound this summer.
Central defence is obviously an area where West Ham boss David Moyes needs to strengthen this summer.
Angelo Ogbonna is still out with an ACL injury and will be 34 before the end of the month. Meanwhile, Craig Dawson has just turned 32 and the jury is still out on Issa Diop.
And Moyes seemingly has one defender in particular in mind to come in and strengthen his options at the London Stadium…
West Ham working on Aguerd deal
The Sun reckon that the Hammers are currently trying to get a deal done for the Moroccan.
We would love to see West Ham sign Aguerd in the summer. He could be available for around £17 million according to GFFN.
The 26-year-old has been described as a brilliant defender by Get Football News France.
And he’s left-footed so is the ideal long-term replacement for Ogbonna.
In 29 Ligue 1 appearances for Rennes so far this season, Aguerd has averaged one interception, one tackle and 4.1 clearances per game. He has also won 3.1 aerial duels per match (Who Scored).
The Morocco international has made 71.7 passes per game on average and recorded an impressive completion rate of 89% (Who Scored).
Aguerd really does have everything. And if Moyes manages to bring the Rennes defender to West Ham in the summer transfer window for just £17 million, it would be really good business for the East London outfit.
