West Ham starting lineup vs Lyon as the Hammers take on the Ligue 1 outfit in the Europa League quarter-finals tonight:
Alphonse Areola, Ben Johnson, Craig Dawson, Issa Diop, Vladimir Coufal, Declan Rice, Tomas Soucek, Pablo Fornals, Manuel Lanzini, Michail Antonio
West Ham travel to France to take on Lyon in the second-leg of the Europa League quarter-finals tonight.
This evening’s game is undoubtedly the biggest we have faced as a club since the FA Cup final way back in 2006.
David Moyes would have been happy with the 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture at the London Stadium last week after Aaron Cresswell was given a red card just before half-time.
Not losing the match was crucial and the tie is now finely poised heading into the second-leg.
Lyon will fancy their chances, of course they will. They are playing at home and the Groupama Stadium can be a very loud place when the Lyon players give the fans something to shout about.
West Ham will be in buoyant mood as well. The general feeling is that we got the raw end of the deal during the first-leg after some truly shocking refereeing decisions.
Perhaps we will get the rub of the green tonight. Most importantly though, each and every Hammers player absolutely has to show up and be 100% on their game.
Moyes has once again selected a strong team (officially confirmed via UEFA’s official website), despite two of the three changes having been forced upon him.
Lukasz Fabianski, Aaron Cresswell and Kurt Zouma drop out and in come Alphonse Areola, Ben Johnson and Issa Diop.
We are more than capable of doing this tonight.
A semi-final clash with either Barcelona or Eintracht Frankfurt awaits us. It’s time for each an every Hammers player to write their names in history.
The West Ham starting lineup vs Lyon gives us confidence that we will win this one. We’re going with 2-1 West Ham.
